The Melbourne Graduate School of Education is the leading research-intensive school of education in Australia. As part of the recently introduced Melbourne Model – consisting of six broad undergraduate programs followed by professional graduate degrees – the Melbourne Graduate School of Education (MGSE) introduced MTeach in 2008.

There are two significant reforms in the new MTeach programs. The first is the introduction of clinical teaching models. The second reform relates to a substantially revised University curriculum, designed to deliver enhanced graduate attributes.

The program embraces the role of technology and recognises the importance of technology as a tool in education today. Research staff and graduate students will greatly benefit from the Ideas Lab facilities and learning and teaching technologies that will be available to keep Melbourne as a leading educational technology base. The collaboration with Ideas Lab provides an exciting opportunity to enhance the role of technology in learning.

To be competitive in the modern world students need to be educated for the 21st century. They require modern learning skills so they can successfully participate in an increasingly knowledge-based global economy. This is why Intel is committed in working towards an eLearning framework for teachers, by developing and nurturing best-practice methods through its association with the Ideas Lab.

Hume City Council is proud to be associated with Ideas Lab. The lab’s presence in the Hume Global Learning Centre in Broadmeadows reinforces the link between the Hume Global Learning Centre and the Council’s commitment to lifelong learning.
The Council’s support for the Lab is a commitment to education and a commitment to the future of our community. The initiative is a great demonstration of what can be achieved through productive partnerships and is a step towards a stronger economy within Hume City.
